The Kentucky History Center, a state-of-the-art museum and research library, will preserve the memories of Kentuckians. It will help to record the challenges faced by the ordinary people who built our commonwealth. Their stories will intrigue and inspire those who tour the Center's quality exhibits, participate in creative educational programs, study its vast storehouse of collections, or conduct research using its library and technological resources.

In addition to preserving the legacy of our past, the Kentucky History Center will also look to the future and add to its collections in order to maintain an unbroken record for future generations. Just as today's Kentuckians are interested in the people of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, tomorrow's residents of the commonwealth will seek out opportunities to learn about our twentieth-century experiences.

Operating hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday; and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.  The exhibitions are closed on Monday and state holidays.  Self-guided tours are available.  Large groups must schedule their tour in advance through group tours, and they may request an introduction to the exhibits.
